Spring is Here! A Floral Freebie For Your Phone and Desktop!

Spring was a tease this week. Between 60+ degree days and thunderstormy nights and then cool, windy days, around here we got just enough spring-like weather to reassure us that yes, it is here, and there are warmer days to come. It has felt like the longest winter ever here in Chicago, and I am SO ready to be over the dreariness.

Springtime always reminds me of college, and how wonderful it was when we'd get back from spring break and the mood on campus seemed to have changed. We switched gears from bundled-up coats and scarves to light jackets and bright colors again. That first 60 degree night after the winter's cold temps, we girls would go out in skirts and shorts, even though it probably wasn't quite warm enough yet to really be comfortable in those things. On the weekends, we'd day drink or hang out on the quad and play bags. I remember one spring night right around this time of year when three girlfriends and I sat on the roof of the fraternity house next door to our sorority house, drinking beers and just people watching. Spring meant people could come out of hiding and hang out, grill, and play outdoors again, and it strengthened the sense of community we felt with our neighbors and others on campus. Some of my best memories are from ISU in the spring.

So here's a spring freebie for all of you who are dreaming of warmer days, or enjoying them already. Spring is here!

Who needs a margarita? Freebie Friday #6!

This week has kicked my butt. I came off a VERY busy weekend, so I started my week not even close to well-rested. I dragged through Monday and Tuesday. Wednesday I just couldn't get it together, even with Starbucks on my side. Did I mention our weather can't seem to figure itself out either? I am dying for spring and it's just not happening around here. It's really been a very long, very sleepy couple of weeks for me, and I am looking forward to just relaxing and having some family time this weekend!

To anyone else who's dying for some warmer weather and a fruity drink in hand, this week's freebie is for you! It's ready for iPhone and desktop!

No more Google Drive! Just click the link and right click to download.

At this point, I've basically just been creating freebies for the devices I own. (I have an iPhone and iMac, so all the freebies I create are kind of optimized for those!) If any of you girls are Android users or have other devices you'd like freebies for, I'd be happy to start offering those as well. Just let me know if you're interested!

Enjoy! And think warm thoughts...thoughts of spring and summer, and beaches, and fun drinks with umbrellas!

Freebie Friday 5: More Sparkle for Your Iphone!

Are you ready for another freebie? You know the drill, iPhone is awesome. And love is awesome. Both are becoming a big theme in my life.

You guys rock. My life has been crazy, and I feel like I've been lazy with blogging. I'm still around, just working on a bunch of stuff. I'm going to take blogging more seriously. Really. But do check out my Instagram--I'm very active on there and it's become my primary way of meeting people and interacting these days.

Have a fabulous weekend!

My Brand New Look!

I AM SO EXCITED. Lilibelle Marie has a new look! Or at least a bit of a facelift. In my excitement to get this blog up and running, I slapped up a modified version of a standard Blogger template and promised myself I'd redesign later, something that fully meets my design standards. So here we are. I redesigned, this time from scratch. It's a responsive design created from a template I wrote myself. It looks and feels sharper, cleaner, and more me. And it feels good to have created it all on my own.

I'll get into the full history of my design career another time, but I will say that it started as a (nerdy) hobby when I was in grade school. As soon as I had home access to the internet (which was about 1996), I was learning HTML and creating all kinds of projects with it. I have always loved web design and online media. Though I've always gone through periods of designing a lot and then taking a break for awhile, I do have around 18 years of history with this field.

I've always considered myself a web designer first, who sometimes dabbles in graphic design. A five-year hiatus with most things web design related left me focusing on graphic design, typography, and art. It was both a hobby and a service I put to good use for family and friends, designing invitations, business cards, party decor, etc., and I've realized that these days, I am now more of a graphic designer with an interest in web design. As a result of my break from intensive designing, now that I'm diving back into it, I'm realizing that there is a lot I have missed. I am learning very quickly; there is so much more I know now than I knew even a month ago. I love that this field is ever-changing and that it pushes me to stretch myself, but boy, has it been a wakeup call to realize that even with an 18 year background in web design, I am not an expert. There was a lot I needed to learn before being ready to really launch myself as a credible web/graphic designer for hire. I'm finally about there.

So I am calling this my blog re-launch. I'm ready to fully go public with this! My design site and portfolio will officially launch in the weeks to come, so stay tuned!

Freebie Friday #4: A Bit of Sparkle For Your Iphone!

Man, oh man, I'm squeaking by with this Friday freebie. Let's pretend I posted this earlier and not in the last hour and a half (barely!) of the day!

As promised, a freebie for your phone! I'm #teamiphone, so I designed these for iPhone 4 & iPhone 5. It's currently my lockscreen and my little reminder to do everything with a lot of love and heart.

Hope your weekend is super sparkly, and filled with lots of love!

Freebie Friday #3!

Friday is here! Anyone else have a short week? My daughter's preschool was off on Monday, so I made it a pretty lazy day. I did accomplish a few work tasks, but it wasn't much. Instead, I watched a movie with my girl during the little guy's naptime, and that was something we hadn't done in awhile. Totally worth it.

On to the freebie! This week's is another desktop background. Because cupcakes. Seriously, who needs a better reason for cupcakes than that?

1600 x 1000. Ready to download here.

Have a fantastic weekend!

Freebie Friday #2!

With all the unnecessary focus excitement of Valentine's Day, I spaced on this week's freebie until just now. This is what I get for not scheduling my posts ahead of time during an already busy week!

Failing. But better late than never, right? Since I've been into Gossip Girl in a big way again lately, here's today's treat for all you lovers of Blair Waldorf. (She is my spirit animal.)

1600 x 1000. Go get this guy over here!

Happy Valentine's Day! Anyone have any good plans? As for me, I'm redoing my entire closet tomorrow. Goodbye boring builder-grade rods, hello complete built-in system! That's my Valentine's gift to myself, and I'll be taking before and after pics, of course. It's a huge project but the end result should be pretty amazing.

I'll be expecting full V-Day pictorial reports from all of you via blogs and Instagram!
